Before the semi finals of the
Big Show were run, the push start cacklecars funneled their way
out of the coral to the staging lanes.

Coming out from the lanes
onto the track at Pomona is pretty awesome.
First out was original driver
Norm Weekly in the Frantic 4 fuelers that had more than its share
of history at Pomona.
John Weidler in the seat
of Joe Passalaqua's Smirnoff car.
Roger Gates in his old
car now owned by Dennis Fenstermaker.
Another original driver,
Jerry Baltes was in his Croshier-Baltes-Lavato entry.
Tommy "The Watchdog"
Allen in his Woody Trick Car.
Wendy-Ann
Williams in her father's (Jack Williams) "Syndicate Scuderia"
out of Canada.
Original driver Don Ewald
in the Ewald Bros. BankAmericar.
Ron Stearns in the Ratican,
Jackson & Stearns AA/FA Fiat.
Yet another original driver,
Dan Richens was in the seat of the Iron Horse now owned by Sam
Chastain.
Original owner/driver
Leon Fitzgerald in the Pure Heaven II AA/FA.
Bob Muravez got the call
for the Howard Cams Rattler.
Ron Hampshire in the
newly completed Waterman & Hampshire car.
Paul Rossi was once again
in the Baney-Rossi-Goebel Yeakel Plymouth Spec.
Original driver Jeep Hampshire
in the Winkle & Trapp Magicar owned by Bill Pitts.
Kenny Safford and driver in training
were in the Safford-Gaide-Ratican car.
Roger Lee was out with yet another
variation of his Brissette & Sutherland car. This one being
the ear when Bill Alexander was driving.
Bobby Hanson in his restored
Wynns Winder.
Carl Olson was back in
the seat of Mike Kuhl's Woody car.
Original driver Walt
Stevens in The Poachers.
Crowd favorite James
Warren in the seat of his last FED ride.
Rod Hynes in the Childs
& Albert "Addict".
Sam Davis was the Freight
Train engineer.
Cacklefest staple Dave West was
out with his Beebe & Mulligan repop with none other than
Tim Beebe driving the push truck.
Tom McIntyre was in his
Weiss & Larkin Top Gas car.
Ron Johnson scored a Cacklefest
trifecta by getting all three of the original drivers in his
cars... the first being Zane Shubert in the Shubert & Herbert
light weight SBC car.
The second Johnson car was the
debut of the ChiZler with non other than Chris Karamesines in
the seat.
The final car in the
Johnson fleet was Tommy Ivo and the Barnstormer.
As he usually is, Don Garlits
was the last out in his Winternationals winning Swamp Rat V.
The cars were then lined up at
the very top end of the track to await the running of the Big
Show semis.
Tom Ivo, Ron Johnson, Chris Karamesines
and Zane Shubert. The three cars and drivers were positioned
last in the parade and Cacklefest, except for Garlits who was
the final car. Talk about history! Chris and Tommy raced against
each other in these cars in the 1964 event. Zane was here that
year as well. The Shubert/Herbert car ran against Garlits in
1965 Winternationals.

Dave West, Tim Beebe
and The Greek

As the semi pro session started
the drivers were bolted in and the cars started moving to the
last turn out that would take them onto the track.
